About & area

Three generations under one roof

The house, the family and the mountains around it.

Jana and Marek with their youngest on a windy mountain walk

Jana, Marek & little Ema — staff member of the month, every month.

Our story

From grandma's six beds to six rooms

Babka Anna started letting two rooms to walkers in 1998, mostly so she had someone to feed. Word got around: about the strudel, about the quiet, about the view of Lomnický štít from the garden bench.

Today her grandson Marek, a mountain guide, and his wife Jana run the house with their three children. Marek has walked most of the marked trails in the Tatras more times than he can count; Jana bakes the bread, knows every pram-friendly path and will lend you a pair of poles you forgot.

We renovated in 2021 with local spruce and sheep's wool, put in heat pumps and kept the old tiled stove. Anna still makes the Sunday cake.

What's near Tatranská Lomnica

Our quiet village sits on the sunny side of the High Tatras, inside the Tatra National Park. Here is what we send guests to most.

5min walk

Cable car to Skalnaté pleso

Ride up to the glacial lake at 1,751 m, then on (weather permitting) to the summit of Lomnický štít at 2,634 m. Book the top section ahead in summer.

Take the Tatra electric railway to Starý Smokovec, the funicular up to Hrebienok, and walk down past the Studený potok waterfalls.

45min train

The famous lake with the ski-jump towers behind it. A flat lakeside loop, cafés, and the start of the walk to Popradské pleso.

12km

Belianska cave

The only show cave in the High Tatras open to visitors — dripstone halls, a sixty-minute tour, and a steady six degrees inside. Bring a jumper.

15km

Kežmarok old town

A walled Spiš town with a castle, a UNESCO-listed wooden church and the best ice cream on a hot day.

15km

Poprad & AquaCity

Thermal pools for rainy days and tired legs, plus the train station and airport.

Stone path through meadow and dwarf pine towards a waterfall in a Tatra valley

Seasonal note: high-mountain trails above the mountain huts close from 1 November to 15 June to protect wildlife. Valley walks, lakes and the cable cars stay open — ask us what's possible on your dates.
